Walking Basketball – New Partnership with Dundee Madsons BC

Walking Basketball – With Dundee Madsons

We are delighted to announce a new partnership with Dundee Madsons which will see us team up to deliver Walking Basketball sessions for men and women over 50.  This is the next progression for our ambitious plans to sustain a Walking Sports Club in the City and is thanks to generous funding received in 2016 from Big Lottery Scotland – Through Awards for All – and Postcode Community Trust.  We’ve had nearly 30 people try our walking football sessions on a Wednesday night and we are hoping that basketball proves to be equally popular.

Jamie Kirk, on behalf of DUCT, had this to say about this new partnership:  “This is a local club with a fantastic reputation and from the first meeting with Dundee Madsons I was immediately struck by how infectious their enthusiasm for community sport, particularly basketball, was.  They immediately welcomed the idea and i’m sure their reach within the basketball community will be of real value in making this project work.  We’re all looking forward to a strong partnership moving forward”.

Robin Paterson, Chairman for Dundee Madsons, added “We’re thrilled to be able to work together on this project.  For us it’s all about getting more people involved in the sport and this is a great way to introduce more people from the community to our club.  We are sure this will be an exciting and successful partnership and look forward to welcoming everyone to the new sessions”.

The Walking Basketball Project will launch with a taster session:

Wednesday 12th July

Harris Academy

6pm – 7pm

All men and women aged 50 or over are more than welcome to attend.  It’s free to try and all you need is trainers and something comfortable to play in as well as a bottle of water.  It doesn’t matter if you are brand new to the sport or whether you played when you were younger.  If you are interested in attending or would like any further information please contact enquiries@dundeeunitedct.co.uk or call us on 01382 833 166 (Option 7).
