PARKINSON’S WALKING FOOTBALL
Dundee United Community Trust has teamed up with Parkinson’s UK & Walking Football Scotland to grow the offer of Parkinson’s walking football sessions in Scotland.
Parkinson’s is the fastest-growing neurological condition in the world, with almost 13,000 people living with the condition in Scotland. Parkinson’s UK estimates that, within five years, that number will have increased to around 15,000.
Walking football is not only a fun and social way for people with Parkinson’s to get active, but it can also help people manage their symptoms and improve strength, coordination, balance & mobility. The game is all about teamwork and is played at a much slower pace, meaning that players have more time to react to the ball.
Our Parkinson’s Walking Football group is open to all abilities and our sessions last 90 minutes - the first hour is playing walking football and the last half hour is a chance to socialise over tea and coffee. It’s free to attend and carers/family members are welcome to join us too, so come along and give it a try.
