DUNDEE UNITED COMMUNITY TRUST IS DELIGHTED TO HAVE BEEN AWARDED £19,116 FROM DUNDEE CITY COUNCIL FOR PROVISION OF SERVICES TO SUPPORT SUMMER 22. THE TRUST THANKS DUNDEE CITY COUNCIL FOR ITS CONTINUED SUPPORT.

🟠 £10,806 of this grant will go towards providing our Para-Sports Camps free of charge for 144 people living with a disability.

£8,310 of this grant will go towards providing free places at our Mainstream Camps for 120 boys and girls.

PARA-SPORTS CAMPS

Last year the Trust delivered the most extensive and inclusive holiday camp programme in Tayside – possibly beyond – which catered for 100s of children and young people with a disability, thanks to the Summer Play Fund. This level of provision was completely new to families with children and young people with complex additional support needs and our ambition is that this now becomes the norm.

Our 2022 Summer Para-Sports Camps will see the Trust deliver two x 10 hour camps per week that will provide people living with a disability the opportunity to experience a variety of different sports and activities including, but not limited to: football, athletics, badminton, multi-sport, powerchair sports, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, bowls, boccia and netball.

Ryan Alexander, the Trusts Para-Sports Development Officer, will be co-ordinating the planning and delivery of these camps and final details will be made available shortly. Anyone wishing to contact Ryan in relation to making camp bookings can do so via e-mail.

MAINSTREAM CAMPS

Thanks to funding received from last years Summer Play Fund, the Trust successfully provided 30 free spaces to our Girls Only Camp with the support of Dundee Active Schools, CLD and School and Family Development Workers in many of the local primary schools.

This year, the Trust will continue to work with our friends at Dundee Active Schools, CLD and School and Family Development Workers to provide 20 free spaces at each week of our Mainstream Camps. These spaces will be distributed to lone parent families, ethnic minority families, young mothers under the age of 25, larger families with 3 or more children, other low income families, care experienced children and young people, and children with any additional support needs.

Melissa Gormley, the Trusts Football Development Officer, will be co-ordinating the provision of these spaces and will be in touch with our partners in due course.
