Dundee United Community Trust to once again tackle loneliness through the SPFL Trust’s Festive Friends campaign

Dundee United Community Trust are bringing Christmas cheer, kindness and compassion to older people in the community by taking part in the Festive Friends programme this year.

It’s been a difficult year for everyone, as we deal with the pressures of the cost of living crisis. But of course, winter is always a tough time for older people, who may be experiencing loneliness.

That’s why the Community Trust are delivering over 200 meals to older people in their own homes on 22nd, 23rd and 24th December as well as welcoming 50 people to Tannadice Park on Christmas Eve for our in person event.

Our Chief Executive, Jamie Kirk, had this to say about the project:

“Festive Friends has been an important part of our calendar for many years and we’re delighted to be teaming up with the SPFL Trust to support older people in the community this Christmas. While Christmas is wonderful for many, for some it’s one of the toughest periods of the year and while we’re really pleased to be able to make a difference, it’s sad to see the number of referrals increase year on year.”

Our deliveries and in-person event are both extremely close to capacity and places are, unfortunately, offered on a first come first served basis. For further information please contact lisa.croll@dundeeunitedct.co.uk.
